In this project, I created a podcast episode using Garage Band to splice and combine audio clips and music from an interview with Kassie Wood.
Final Podcast ProductInterview
Below are the summaries of Kassie Wood's answers:
Name: Kassie Wood From: Smithfield, VA in Southern Virginia Other: N/A Music Likes: Kassie enjoys pop music, Beyoncé, sometimes hip-hop or rap, and whatever is new on the radio. Desert Island: If she were stranded on a desert island, she would take Beyoncé because it would empower her to get off the island. Guilty Pleasure Music: Her guilty pleasure music is old-timey, like songs by Otis Redding. Music’s Role in Life: Music allows Kassie to get pumped up when she needs to or cry when she feels sad. Music has also allowed her to form good friendships and develop strong connections; one of her best friends and her connected over Phantom of the Opera. Music in Family: Her grandparents do not listen to music and both her parents are deaf, so she had no musical upbringing. She tended to listen to whatever she or her sister heard over the radio or in school. Music in Friends: One of her good friends, Hailey, was really into musicals, which connected her to music. She was one of the reasons she fell in love with Phantom of the Opera. Earliest Music Memory: Kassie’s earliest musical memory was listening to a cassette tape in the car and the song “Rubber Ducky” from Sesame Street. Favorite Musical Memory: Her favorite musical memory was listening to One Direction in concert. It was great because it was her first concert, she got to go for free, and Harry Styles looked directly at her. Least Favorite Musical Memory: Her least favorite musical memory was when a person made up a mean song about her. Music Education Experience: Best: Her best music education experience was in elementary school; she loved her chorus director, Mrs. Odis, because she got to learn fun music and her teacher gave out ice cream to them. She ended up stopping chorus after middle school because she did not want to stay after in high school for chorus. Worst: Her worst memory was having to memorize a song and play it, which she felt she did horribly at. What would you want out of music education: Kassie said that in her music education classes, she had to learn only a specific genre of music; if she could make the rules she would let everyone choose what song they want to learn and have the teacher help them along the way. |
